Adventure Package - Sample Itinerary  

DAY 1 - EDGEHILL VALLEY

Arrive at Rosstrevor Guest Farm (20kms from Barkly East) for welcome drinks and introduction. We will then transport you to Edgehill Guest Farm nestled in a stunning valley at an altitude of over 2,300 metres above sea level. Enjoy an evening drink on the terrace as the sun sets before tucking into a hearty braai.

DAY 2 - MOUNTAIN BIKING

After a full farmhouse breakfast there will be the opportunity to take a short walk to a very special site containing bushman paintings and wonderful rock formations. Returning to Edgehill farmhouse, we will equip you with mountain bikes to take you to your next destination. This cycling trail mainly runs along tranquil gravel roads and is self-guided with a picnic lunch provided. We will provide a radio and back-up vehicle should you need any assistance en-route. Arrive at cosy Avoca Cottage in the early evening and enjoy a roast dinner.

DAY 3 - HORSERIDING & WATERFALL

After breakfast you will be introduced to your horse for the day. We provide well-trained mounts and experienced guides, so we can cater for all abilities and can give on-trail lessons for beginners. We will set off at Avoca Farm, one of the oldest in the area, and climb steadily up the Snowdon mountain, taking in the breathtaking views along the way. A picnic lunch will be provided at a stunning waterfall, where it is possible to take a refreshing swim before the ride home. We will transport you back to Rosstrevor Guest Farm - a wonderfully preserved Victorian farmhouse. Dinner will be served in our on-site bar & restaurant, housed in a converted sandstone barn over 100 years old.

DAY 4 & 5 - RIVER GORGE HIKE & CAMP IN CAVE

Today we hike along the Diepspuit river, following a beautiful sandstone gorge. This is a fun-filled day, not least because we all take turns to lead the donkeys that carry our overnight bags! There are numerous natural swimming pools and natural 'jacuzzis' to cool off enroute. By mid-afternoon we will arrive at our camping destination for the night - a majestic cave alongside the river which has been used as a family holiday spot for over 100 years. We will spend a relaxing afternoon splashing around on tubes and with luck we will manage to catch a fresh wild trout to add to the evening meal. Spend the evening sitting by the camp-fire, enjoying a bush braai and a few drinks before settling down for a night out under the stars. After a bush breakfast we will continue along the gorge through dramatic rock formations until we reach our pick-up point on the Kraai river. The final night will be spent back at Rosstrevor where all the previous days' adventures can be retold over a few drinks at the bar.
